Xiaomi Mi 7 could ditch the fingerprint sensor and adopt iPhone X-like Face ID authentication system
Xiaomi
is gearing up to launch its next flagship product the Xiaomi Mi 7 in
February 2018. The smartphone is rumored to come with a 16 MP +16 MP
dual rear camera setup with an aperture of f1.7. Under the hood, the
device will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with 6 / 8GB of
RAM. It will have 32 / 64 GB internal memory, expandable up to 128 GB
via a microSD card slot. The Mi 7 will have Adreno 540 GPU.
The
smartphone is expected to have a 6.01-inch bezel-less display with 18:9
aspect ratio which will be made by Samsung. Other rumored
specifications of the device include a rear fingerprint sensor and a
ceramic back similar to the Mi 6. The phone will have non-removable
Li-Po 3500 mAh battery with fast charging support. Connectivity options
included are USB Type-C, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, WiFi Hotspot, and Dual
SIM (Nano SIM). Xiaomi Mi 7 may support wireless charging as Xiaomi
recently joined the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) which means that the
phone will come with support for Qi standard wireless charging. Rumors
suggest that the Xiaomi Mi 7 will be priced at around 2,999 Yuan for the
6 GB variant which is approximately Rs 29,369.

Smartphone was launched in February 2018, comes with a 5.7-inch AMOLED
capacitive with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels at a pixel density
of 401 pixels per inch. The screen is also protected by a Scratch
Resistant display.
The phone is powered by a 2.4 GHz Octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
processor and it comes with 6 GB of RAM. What this means is the
processor has Octa cores in the CPU and 6 GB of RAM ensures the phone
runs smoothly with multiple applications open simultaneously. The Xiaomi
Mi 7 also packs in a graphics processor, and 64 GB of internal storage
and does not support expandable storage.

GizChina had earlier shown renders of the Mi 7 which showed an under-the-display fingerprint sensor. However, MyDriver claims Xiaomi has no interest in using this technology in its upcoming Mi 7.
These conflicting reports show that one cannot be quite sure of what to expect in the Mi 7. One thing for sure is the fact that the Mi 7 will have the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, which was launched this month.
Other reports have suggested that the phone will have a full-screen bezel-less display like the Mi Mix 2 and a dual-camera system which was also featured in the Mi 6.
